Today you measured the weight of objects in Newtons with spring scales. These awesome scientists remembered to bring things to weigh: The Russian, Wiggleworm, Swirlyspice, Lazylizard, Luckylemonade, Beanfranklin, Topclaraminty, and Tterag. That's $100 for each of you! | Remember: *No school for students tomorrow *Twins and Multiples Day Tuesday, November 8th Homework: Language Arts: Read Numeracy: Gr. 6 - Textbook p. 305 and mark Gr. 7 - Textbook p. 112 #3,4,5,7,9,11 Science: If you were away today, watch the video clip below, and this power point 'How to Use a SpringScale' https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1UVhO_FM5QX2Rg-O0n7qY8XtekPrdQTXNKWx40FYY4_Y/edit?pli=1#slide=id.gabc8d23_0_23. |
Leave a comment: 1) Was there anything that you found difficult / tricky about using the spring scales today? Explain. 2) Name one thing that you weighed that was less than and one more than 1 Newton. 3) What is something you learned in Science today? 4) What are you still wondering?

I found hooking things without holes or any where to put the hook or else I have to poke a hole in the object. One object under one newton is my eraser and the other was my planner. I learned that to measure a newton you have to use a spring scale. I am still wondering why different spring scales have different answers of the weight of objects.

What I found difecult was the weighing the difrent objects with the spring scales ,though it was fun. What I weighed that was lower than 1 newton was my small flashlight and coumpass. I learned that things that are the same thing can have different weights. I am still wondering how many newtons does a chair weigh?

What I found difficult was using the right scale to weigh the objects. What I weighed that was smaller then 1 Newton was a yoyo. I learned that on different scales the same object could weigh different amount of newtons. What I wonder is if there are bigger spring scales?

what i found difficult was using the right scale because i did not no how to you the scale and also i dont no how to check how many newtons it is.

I thought it was tricky getting the hook onto an object like the hat for example. One thing that weighed less than 1 Newton is the drain plug one thing that weighed more then 1 Newton is the water bottle. Bye!

My group didnt struggle much we just needed to find objests with a hole in them. we weighed scissors which is less then one Newton. I learned 1 newton is'nt that heavy. I wonder, if we are 600 N then how many Newton's is a dog? (ᵔᴥᵔ) (ᵔᴥᵔ)

I wasn't here today, so I can't really answer the question. Instead, I'll talk about We Day. We Day was SO MUCH FUN! At 6:40, we met at the school and we got to go on a Sky Train. The Sky Train was pretty crowded and we were all half-asleep, but it was kind-of fun. When we reached the Rogers Arena, that's when the real fun began. There was a lot of screaming, shouting and jumping. There were a lot of motivating speeches and a couple of songs and dances. I didn't know half the people, but their presentations were really interesting. At intermission, I bought two Rafiki Bracelets. Rafiki means 'friend' in Swahili, a language spoken in Kenya. Those bracelets were really cool. They were handmade by the women in Kenya and they look fantabulous! All the purchase money we pay for the things we could've bought from there will go to global fundraisers, so it felt good to buy something and know you bought it for a good cause. I hung out with ShinyPineapples (I think that's the right alias), Maddie, Mack, and Amanda from Mr. Stewart's class, and Vlada from Ms. Hurtubise's class. We Day was a really cool and memorable experience, and I know that it's something that I will never forget. Okay, bye!

I wasnt here today because I was sick, but it all sounds and looks fun. Well today I slept a lot and that was fun and my mom went shopping and that was my day. :(

It was hard to measure some thing like a pencil sharpener but I got the hang of it. I weighed a toy car and it was less then 1 newton and I measured the spring chair and it was a lot more then 1 newton. I learned that a sweater ways more then an apple it really surprised me.

The one thing that I found difficult was trying to measure the force of an object because you have to keep a steady hand and look carefully for the correct measurement. I weighed a pair of scissors which was about .4 Newtons and Cleopatra's binder which was about 19 Newtons. I learned that an object's weight is much lighter in Newtons when you measure it's force than it's actual weight which was very surprising to me. I am still wondering about an object's inertia because I'm not quite sure what it is yet. Bye!

1)what I found tricky was that it was hard to find stuff to measure.2) I found out that one of my trains is less than one newtons and my backpack is 18 newton.3) I learned how to use a spring scale.

I found that some things are hard to measure like my mini skateboard and my ruler. One thing that was lighter than 1 newton was my mini skateboard and it was 0N and 1 thing that was heavier than 1 newton was warm yellow paint and it was about 14N.( By the way, warm yellow is the colour of the paint.) I still wonder about why my mini skateboard was 0N.

What I found tricky was that the different spring scales said different measurements then another spring scale. A ruler is lease than one newton and a backpack wa more then one newton. I learned that an apple is only one newton. Why are something's that seem heavy only one newton or a low amount of newtons? See you soon I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I was not at school on Thirday for a couple of reasons, but I'm a bit upset i didn't get to weigh things and learn more about the spring scales! I am excited for twin day but I don't think I have a twin yet😂. Bye! See everyone tomorrow!

I was not there for half of science but what I found weird is that some of them are different not just by colour by weight and other stuff. What I weighed was my water bottle and when it was full it weighed more but if it was empty it was less

What I found difficult was knowing which spring scale too use for each object. One thing that was less than a newton was my scissors. Something I learned from science is that one apple, two golf balls, and one small battery is 1 newton.

What I found difficult was trying to keep a steady hand because if you moved your hand at all it would affect the weight of the object. I weighed a yoyo that was less than one newton and a mini hockey stick that was more than one newton. I learned that a spring scale measures the force of gravity on a object.

I kind of found it tricky to use the correct object and the correct measurements for the spring scales. My popsicle keychain lipgloss weighed less than one newton. I learned that the weight of a person/newtons is just gravity holding you down on the earth. I'm wondering how much I would weigh on a spring scale?

My group didn't have much trouble weighing stuff, but we did have trouble looking for objects and the only thing I remember that was less than 1N was Topclaraminty's skate board and it was 0N, I learned that 1N is equal to 1 apple, and 2 golf ball;I wonder how many newtons does a school, and a house need to pull it down to Earth?🌎🌍🌏

I found it pretty easy to use the spring scales. The springy chair weighed more than 1 newton I think it was about 36. I learned how to use a spring scale and I a, still wondering how weight changes in space but mass does not. Bye.

I found it a bit difficult to read the spring scale. The object that I weighed that was less than one newton was a toy car and my water bottle weighed more than one newton. I wonder how much a basketball would weigh?

I found balancing objects that didn't have anything you could hook on was hard. I weighed a spring scale and it was less than one Newton. I also weighed a binder and it weighed more than one Newton. Well I learned how to use a spring scale. I am wondering about that question we had in class where the moon is smaller than the Earth so the Earth has more gravity but Jupiter or a bigger planet than Earth still doesn't have more gravity.
