Math: See planner Speeches - Make sure you have your quote and three questions ready to share tomorrow. Research must be completed by Monday. Social Studies: Today we watched some of the 'Living on One' documentary of three young adult men from New York City attempting to live in Guatemala on one dollar a day. They learned first hand how unclean water made them ill. Clean water ensures people stay healthy, which means they grow normally, and can go to school. On just one dollar a day, the men did not get the proper nutrition they needed, and they were constantly hungry. With help from a Guatemalan woman, they were able to decrease their hunger, but were essentially living on only corn - no fruit, protein, etc. We learned the difference between acute malnutrition and chronic malnutrition. Acute malnutrition is not enough food. Chronic malnutrition is not getting the right balance of vitamins and nutrients. Leave a comment: Are you finding this documentary interesting? I learned that people that live in poor places they don't have any choice but, to drink the dirty water. Like that guy in the documentary got parasites inside of him because he drank that water. I found the documentary really interesting. I would like to learn and watch more of those videos, because there is so much more to learn. One thing I found interesting was that the people were trying to live on a dollor and they were trying to problem solve within their budget.

Hi everyone! I just got back from a ball hockey game, I won yay! Anyway for the question heres what i have to say, Yes I'm finding this documentary interesting because these adults are living on $1 a day and they are in a part of the world were they don't know what to expect and where to go. I would love to watch and learn more about this and how they survive. I learned that it IS possible to live on $1 a day. I also learned that they have a lot of landslides and that the landslides destroy the crops in the farm. Well bye for now...

I would watch more and learn more poverty is very interesting to me. If I had to survive on just one dollar day I would have a very hard time but atleast there will be a lot of people go help you through it.then maybe if there are to many people only living on one dollar a day the maybe the government will pay them more like 2-5 dollars instead of one.

I find the interview was really interesting, and I really want to watch more. I am actually very tempted to go watch it now. However, I find it very interesting how many people are in poverty, yet how much food is made each year, and how probably will go to waste. The problem is people can't always afford to buy food. In the meantime food and house prices are going up, while your job might not be paying you enough money. Today I learned how people found strategies to survive in poverty e.g. tortillas, corn, and loans, and how much dirty water affects your life.

I find the documentary really interesting and I hope we can watch more. It is super cool to see people that are not used to living in poverty decide that they will for a day, so I find their experiment really interesting as well. I want to watch more because I want to see more on how they survive/learn to survive. I also like how they talk to locals and learn from them too. I sort of found the dirty water to sickness part gross but it was also really interesting how he got sick so fast. Just from two weeks of drinking dirty water, he got ill. It was a bit surprising and now I see how inportant it is to have clean water and how lucky we are to have clean water. I also liked the part where they did the writing thing about a local, Carlos, and showed how much of a difference it could make. His sisters could go to school, his family could eventually start a buisness, they would have more money to help them survive, and hopefully eventually get them out of the poverty they are in. See everyone soon, bye!

I liked the documentary I found it very interesting. I didn't know why the guy got sick from the water when all the other people didnt get sick. It was gross when they found a bug and all that dirt in the water but just drank it anyways.

Sorry that I didn't comment on Wednesdays and Thursdays (My birthday) post it was because I had this huge pain in my back and I couldn't move after my ball hockey practice. I don't know what happened but I'll soon to find out. I don't know what documentary you are talking about so I'll just say that living on one dollar a day is very hard to use to survive, and not having the proper nutrition and water can make you very sick and maybe die. See you all on Friday/Today.

I learned a hurricane can cause more natural disasters than just a hurricane. I want to watch more because it's cool to see that some people can adapt to living like that and others not... I am finding this documentary interesting because of theses guys doing 1 small thing and creating all these other things like the sickness and they learned how to make tortillas.
