I am reading "Wildwood" by Colin Meloy. The character in this book is missing her brother and so she writes a poem. I typed out and printed a separate copy of the poem because it was so good. I did some visible thinking too. There's this one passage in the poem: "He was like the medicine for a wounded heart. His one smile would destroy the hurt...Where had he vanished, touching our hearts? Let's find him." This made me think how in this world there are those people who if you lose them, could make a great impact on your life. There are those people you just can't forget and can't bear to lose. And since the character in the book is missing her brother and cannot bear the pain of not seeing him, I figured that this passage might be what's important. As a strategy, I read the poem and picked up the important message based on the context. Okay, bye!

I'm reading Random Acts by: Valerie Sherrard. A character named Zoey decides to do a random act of kindness to her neighbours with a friend she likes to call Bean. Since it was Fall they went to rake the neighbours leaves. But they thought it would be better to do during the night so that the neighbours wouldn't know who did the favour for them. A few days later the police shows up at Zoey's door asking questions if she knew who raked the leaves because her neighbours had complained that somebody had stolen their leaves. Turns out that they wanted their leaves. The importance of this 'scene' is to know the needs and wants of other people and to use your knowledge. The strategy that I used to find better meaning of the text was to think about what I'm reading. I noticed that if you really think about what you're reading and dissect it, you can find something important out of the text, even if it is a 'questionable scenario'. Bye!

I am reading "The Heroes of Olympus, The Blood of Olympus" by Rick Riordan. The main characters have very little time to stop a goddess from destroying humanity and gods. The demigods and the gods have to work together to stop an undead army and the goddess. Some of the main characters are weakened. The titans are powerful and huge beings serving the "Earth mother" goddess trying to destroy demigods and the gods who are getting in the way of their sinister plans.

I'm reading diary of a wimpy kid: old school by Jeff Kinney, and there was a part that made me think about whats important, and I painted a picture in this scene. "he said little things can have big conequences. He said if I were growing up in frontier times and it was my job to tighten the bolts on the wagon wheels but I FORGOT to, then thewheels would fall of and our family would get eaten by wolves." it really paints a picture and whats important is that "little things can have big conequences."

I am reading the last chapter of the book the last Olympian by rick Riordan. The main characters just finished a huge battle against the Titans and monsters and other Demi gods so they're rebuilding their camp. The camp leader said to never forget this day because it was the last day of camp except if they were to make arrangements to stay which they're not doing so now they have to go early to bed and to remember they must that vacuate your cabins by noon tomorrow unless you made arrangements with the camp like I said and the next morning Anabeth which was a demigod up at the camp said goodbye to Rachel Who was a mortle and the other main character thought that was actually kind of weird because they haven't been really getting along and then at the end they went to the camp and he then chased after Annabeth to the top of the hill and for once didn't look back. The strategies I used was ditermining what's important.

I read And Then It Happend book 9. There are pretty funny parts like one day a girl moved in across the street of Gordan the main character in the book. So she's walking on the sidewalk normally then Gordan and his 2 friends go by her with there bikes and say hi and splash mud in the girls face with there bikes. Then about 3 hours later she comes to his door and says '' I'm sorry but we haven't met yet, so i'm Alexia.'' she gives cookies to them and a tape and says to watch while eating the cookies. Then she left and closed the door. Gordan and his 2 friends ate the cookies quickly and then they watched the tape. In the tape it was Alexia in the kitchen with the cookie dough and then she called her dog and he sat right in the dough and then she put the dough in the oven. Alevxia got her revenge. THE END.

I am reading the last Olympian. Am at the part where they are having a big fight to save the world from the evil dark Titan lord and the main character Percy has a vision in his sleep about his friends and he is about to see a Titan under a flag of truce a message from Kronos the Titan lord. That is where I stopped. It is really good I recomend the series but you need to read the book all about the gods then read the first one if you are not familiar with the Greek gods and in the series there is a lot of really funny comments and humour.

I started reading Uprooted A Canadian War Story by:Lynne Reid Banks, and while I was reading I made a conection, since there was a war the goverment wanted the women and children to go abroad, the readon I was conected to this was because I remember going from England to Canada, but of course not during a war and how she felt sad that she's losing her house that she grew up in, and everything familiar, I also drew an actual picture v.s what she lost and what Iost in my time and her time. How I felt from just reading the back info I'm getting a feelin' that I will make alot of conections with the book. (I also read a bit of the book but I felt more conected to this part then the part that I read.) 8-D

I am reading a book called one for the murphy's. It is about a girl that has to go live in a foster home because he mother is in the hospital due to injuries caused by her and her step father. The girl is being a pain to the family and being snarky and sassy. She grows to like the family and the family grows to like her. One day the girl hears one of the family members yelling she goes to where to yelling came from to find one of the kids having a seizure. The parents take the kid to the hospital so the girl has to stay and watch the other kids and realizes that she loves the family and prays for the young boy who had the seizure to be okay. After the boy has the seizure she isn't being snarky and is being helpful. I think the important idea of this part of the story is to not be hard on the people that love when they are just trying to help you and make you feel better.

I am reading: "I hate that cat". I just finished it and it is basically all poems and it was good but really confusing to me . Through out the book I had to re-read or read it slower to understand what I was reading for example at the start of the book he hates cats but then one day he gets a kitten and I was confused on why he liked his kitten when he said he hated cats but the word in the book that made it clear that I had to re-read was that it said that kittens were more friendlier than the older mean cats that attacked him and then I understood better.

I am reading a book called "The War That Saved My Life." I am really enjoying it, it is a fairly big book so it is taking me some time to read. There are always parts in the book where I have to re-read, slow down, or understand my thinking. One part in the book it was talking about a medicine with a weird name, at first I didn't know what the word even meant and I had thought I had never heard it before but the I broke it up and tried to understand it a bit more and then I realized what it said. It made a lot more sense to me after I had re-read. There is a lot of frail in this book so I usually need to Aleta's be reading slowly so I catch important parts. Bye! See everyone tomorrow.

I just finished reading "Last Shot" by David Skuy. The book is about this guy named Bryan who is getting drafted to the OHL ( a junior hockey league) but he gets picked in the seventh round although he is really good everyone thinks he is to small to play but then he goes and leads the league in scoring and proves everyone wrong. I think that it is important to not judge people by their size, weight, or height because they might be really good at something or really nice. What I do to find something that is important after a chapter I go over what happened in the chapter and if I can't find anything important I go back and re read it slowly.

I am reading "Double Down" by Jeff Kinney the so far the book is about how Gregory is asking a bunch of questions and thinking about what people have said to him in the past. In this chapter Gregory is watching his brother play soccer and everyone who played got a trophy. So I think that the important part in this chapter is that everyone is a winner. What I do to find the important idea I read a chapter or two and if I see something that sticks out I'll remember the page its on and then I'll keep reading while I'm still looking for other important parts in the chapter. I think this strategy helps me because I can see the big idea and make sense of it.

I am reading The Infinity Ring Divide and Conquer. It about three kids Dak,Sera, and Riq who have to go back in time with a time traveling device called the infinity ring. In the book vikings are attacking Paris and the kids need to find a person called a historian who will help them find out what to do to fix the past to make the future better. they need to fix the past because the world is being ruled by a organization called the SQ and if they go back and fix the past the world won't be run by the SQ. I had to re-read to get a better understanding of what was happening in the book I also had to slow down a few times.

I read a book called 'the Stoary of the World REVISED EDITION Volume 1: Ancient times and the important thing about this book is that this book explains about ancient time of the world. e.g. Africa, China, Europe, the Americas. The part that I read was about how the Romans got really powerful and big. It says that it is because they had a lot of fighters/army. My strataegies were reading out loud and memoing, underlining, and highlighting the important parts.
