Today you played SPENT at playspent.org. Their motto is, "It's just stuff, until you don't have it." What did you have to give up to make it through the month? Would you still be able to enjoy the things you enjoy now? Is this game realistic? Explain. How does this game apply to our unit on Poverty?

I had to give up my car and my kid had to give up their lunch. I don't think so because you can't have a lot of things with barely any money. I think it is realistic because it said that some of these things happen to people in poverty, like sending your kid to school without a lunch. It relates to poverty because in the game you don't have that much money and you have to live for a month with little food and paying all of the bills.

I had to put my pet down and sell my car. I don't think so because you have to make tough decisions like how much to bye and limit your spending so they wouldn't have extra money. this game is kind of realistic because 1000 dollars is not that much compared to real life. I think that it relates to poverty because you can die, run out of money and starve to death. these are all realistic things. See you all tomorrow.

I went into poverty a lot during this game I lost my home and job and mom. I think that there are a a lot of things to pay for and people don't always have enough to pay for those things so they go into poverty. And it was really hard to balance the amount of money I had to keep.

I lost my home, job and my mom. I think the game was realistic, because most of the problems were related to real life. You also have to keep the amount of money you have balanced, so you don't run out of money.

I think this game is really cool. because game background is adult and we take a jobs and we make money. this is so real. and problems is every question is same answer and same question. so I think this game have some problems. and I think this game have poverty. because they don't have many money. so we make money everyday. but they don't have money, game players die. I think this game talk poverty with game players. and this game maker want the children know many poverty and they take a pity.

Hi! Today I lost my mom, car, gas, job, home, and my friend. Probably not at all! I think this game is realistic because it is a parent in relative poverty trying to survive. This game makes it like your in someones else's life trying to solve their problems and make their decisions. Because, like i said, it makes it like your in someone else's live trying to solve their problems and it teaches you what its like to be in relative poverty and if you make one wrong decision you could end up on the street. Well thats all i got to say so see y'all tomorrow! Bye for now...

I survived with $331. I had to give my kid $50 for a field trip I could have used that for my car to get it fixed I think. Just saying only buy the stuff that you need like a car house/apartment,good healthy food, do not spend it on your kids field trip. Oh buy the bronze heath pack I think it is. I lost my car, Mom and my house

For almost all of the problems, I had to either get a friend to help, pay it later, or to just quit. I had to give up on so many amazing opportunities, and they may have helped a lot e.g. a really good school for my child to go to. I had to suffer from being sick and not being able to rest, so I could support my family. I would most definitely would not be able to enjoy things I enjoy now, like books, the internet, nice clothes. I would not be able to have fun, and to have fantastic experiences I have, and live a good life. A thing I found unrealistic, is that these costs needed to be spread out more, one day my mom gets sick, the next my rent pay rises, then I get pulled over for speeding? Those could all happen just not so close together. It would happen more over time. This game applies to our poverty unit, because it covers about living in relative poverty. Along the game it shows how costly it is, and it shows some facts about living in relative poverty.

I had to give up on saving my pet or putting it down and choosing my food for the week. Yes I would enjoy the thing I enjoy now. Yes this game is really realistic because allot of people have to go through this almost every day.

I had to give up my car and my dog to make it through the month. I would not be able to enjoy things that I enjoy now, I would not be able to do any extra things, because it was so stressful trying to make it through the month with having to pay weekly bills! Once I only was living of f $10. The game is very realistic, because all those questions in this I bet people are going through right now. This game applies to our poverty unit because, I was in dept a lot playing the game! I could not afford most of the things I had to ask my friend for money quite a bit. I also was jobless for a while too.

I had to give up my car my cat my electricity and I couldn't pay for lots of things like my mums health care 10$ to a lottery ticket and some things for my kid. I think my life would be very stressful and I'd always need help or be confused or have to let people down. I think it could be realistic but what about the husbands income or the food donation places. There are lots of places these people could get help from. It teaches you to save money and what to do when to do it and why you can or can't do it.

I had to give up my kids lunch, my car, my pets life and i lost all my money. I would not be able to do the sames things I can do now. I would not be able to play sports outside of school and not be able to pay for school supplies. This game is very realistic. I apply's to our poverty unit by seeing the different ways people go into poverty and what it is like when you are in relative poverty.. Sees you all tomorrow bye!

I had to let my mom be ill and let my dog suffer. I think this game is really realistic because I think a lot of the choices are in some people's life.

I had to give up my own heatlh because I had to go to work. My kid could not play on any school teams and couldnt go into the gifted program either. I also could bot pay for extras like $100 for my moms medicine and ice cream for my child. I had to give blood and have a yard sale just to be able to pay the bills as well. This game realistically relates to poverty because they cannot afford treatment for their animals or brand bew shoes, like you can probably not in the game. So overall it is pretty realistic to poverty. It is all about the choices you make too, and some of the choices you make are very hard too. If I was living in poverty, I know my life would not be the same. I could not do skating or dance for sure, and probably have to go to thrift stores for clothes or shoes and live a pretty stressful and depressing life. See everyone tomorrow, bye!

Some of my sacrifices in the game were that I would not give my kid the right kind of things he needed I missed my grandpas funeral My mother became sick and My electricity and my car. This game is very realistic because most of the choices are choices that you make a person in poverty would REALLY make.

I had to give up my car and a lot of other bills that I had to pay to have a good life, such as electricity and gas. probably not because this is only one mouth try living a year with that much money. Some what realistic because there are some non realistic things but everything else could happen in real life. see you all tomorrow.

To make it through the month I had to miss my friends wedding, so that I wouldnt have to pay any extra costs and I had to put my dog to sleep, because I didnt want to let it suffer and I didnt want to pay the big money to get the dog treated. Im not really sure if I would be able to still enjoy the things that I enjoy now, because I would have to really think "do I need this?" or "Should I buy this amount of grocerise?" I do know that I would really enjoy the simple things in life, but that seems quiet tricky, because there are so many extra expenses and its hard especially if you are in poverty.I think that this game is very realistic, because all the different bills and probalems are things that actually happen to us and that we pay for, but many may have a hard time paying it.Also in the game a bunch of extra expenses kept popping up andstuff like that also happens in real life like if your child is goingf on a feild trip and it costs money or your kid is going to a birthday party and you need to buy a gift .I thin it applys to our unit on poverty, because in the game you have a certin income a job and tons of bills to pay for and if you lose your job you wont get a regular income and then you go into poverty.

I had to give up the dental care and drive away when I crashed because I did not have enough money. I think you will not be able to enjoy the things you enjoy now with such little money. I think the game "SPENT" is realistic because it gives you very realistic choices that ordinary people have to make. "SPENT" is about poverty because You are trying to stay alive and use you money smart.

This is the third time I've commented on this blog! In the 'Poor No More' video, I found that the girl made her mom a card saying 'get better soon' really sad. I almost cried, and since she was crying made me want to cry even more... I had fun at gym though! I found the games really short. I also liked how Mr. Liebermann taught us how to juggle!

There was no post again. I'll comment on here then. I had fun today our substitute taught us how to jusngle 2 bean bags but not 3! I didn't want to but then I learned that it was pretty fun but I got into a habit of doing something else with jugglig because thats how I thought it was. I could barely do it but I maneged to do it a couple of times. I signed up for 'french club'. We got to work on our speeches and I did a draft on my speech but I needed help on the conclusion. Kelly and I both needed help on our conclusion, we asked our peers and the sub but it didn't really help.
